Certification Levels There are three certification levels provided by Sun for the Java Platform: Programmer, Developer, and Architect. To learn more about Sun certification, visit here. According to a Java World article in the June 1999 issue, a number of vendors have proposed a new certification program, the Certification Initiative for Enterprise Development, consisting of a series of standardized tests for Java developers. The 3 levels of certification are:
Programmer FALL 2001 CLASSES STARTING SOON, PROBABLY OCTOBER. PRE CLASS PLANNING IS TAKING PLACE NOW.

The Hands-on Java Lab meets alternating 1st Wednesday and 3rd Wednesday nights of each month, 6:30 - 9:00pm in the 3rd floor lab at the JC Penney location at 12712 Park Central Place (directions and map). 2001 Schedule: Meetings will be on 2/7, 2/21, 3/21, 4/4, 4/18, 5/16, 6/6, and 6/20. The group's purpose is to provide a networked lab environment for self-paced programming experiments in different Java technologies. The programming experiments will vary from basic (such as copying a file) to more complex (such as simple projects using EJB, XML, RMI, and encryption). There are plans to create two new tracks (subgroups), one on XML programming using JDom and one on Java Thread programming.
