"The Java Application Programming Interface, Volumes 1 & 2" by Gosling & Yellin (Addison-Wesley; ISBNs 0-201-63459-7 & 0-201-63453-8) is pretty much an exact rehash of the online API documentation. Given the ease of reading the online documentation, I don't know why you want it. Volume 1 is the Core Packages and Volume 2 is Window Toolkit and Applets.

My recommendation is to buy The Java Class Libraries instead.
