"Instant CORBA" by Orfali, Harkey, and Edwards (Wiley Computer Publishing; ISBN 0-471-18333-4) seemed real familiar to me. I looked on my shelf and saw why. It is overlaps material with Client/Server Programming with Java and CORBA. This book in a lot of ways seemed like the non-Java version of the other book. I'd recommend reading the review of the other book.
