"Instant JavaScript" (Prentice Hall, ISBN 0-13-268434-9) by Holman and Lund is an introduction to JavaScript book. While I am not interested in this topic, on a brief skim, the authors seem to understand that JavaScript and Java each have their own purposes. This should say good things for the rest of this book.
