XML Applications with UML Review Review by Billy Barron, Tek-Tools "Modeling XML Applications with UML: Practical e-Business Applications" (Addison-Wesley; ISBN 0-201-70915-5) by David Carlson is one of those books that when I first saw it I had a bad feeling. The author did not help by stressing vocabularies so much. I could instantly see that this book was going to be academic instead of practical. The first several chapters are just overviews of XML and UML. Then the rest of the book switches to marrying the two together. There just wasn't much here that I found of interest nor of use. If you know how to model using UML already, applying it to XML is rather trivial. I think most people would be better off with a good UML book (UML Distilled or UML Explained) and a good XML book. |
