Java Programming with IBM WebSphere Overview Overview by Billy Barron, Tek-Tools "Enterprise Java Programming with IBM WebSphere" (Addison-Wesley; ISBN 0-201-61617-3) by Brown, et al is a book that covers WebSphere and Enterprise Java. To be honest, I am not interested in this book currently because I have no plans to use WebSphere for a long time if ever. However, in the foreward, Martin Fowler, who I respect highly, says the book is full of good Enterprise Java practices whether you use WebSphere or not. The book begins covering the Internet Business Environment with some badly out of date projections. The book then covers various web-based solutions and architectures. Then the book covers servlets generically. This is followed by servlets with WebSphere and then a couple of chapters of pure WebSphere information. This is followed by more servlet information and then JSPs. This part of the book closes with a case study. The next section of the book starts with the EJB architecture. Then the book bounces back and forth between VisualAge and theory. Finally, it ends with deploying EJBs in WebSphere. |
