The
Java Developer's Alamanac 1.4, Volume 1
Review by Billy Barron, Tek-Tools
"The Java Developer's Alamanc 1.4, Volume 1" by Patrick Chan (Addison-Wesley; ISBNs 0-201-75280-8) is an updated version of "The Java Alamanac". The book contains one line summaries of methods in the Java API. It is well organized, nicely format and a wonderful quick reference book. There are other sections such as an outline of the packages and little reference details. It also gives code examples throughout the book for various clases. Volume 1 covers the server side APIs. Volume 2, which I have not seen, will cover the client side APIs. My favorite version of these Almanacs was the original tiny 1998 edition. However, the size of the APIs have grown from 1.1 to 1.4. The book has grown with it. |
